Curt Viebranz, left, President of George Washington’s Mount Vernon and the Mount Vernon Ladies’ Association hosted Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall on Wednesday, March 18, 2015, during their U.S. visit. During a tour of Mount Vernon, this image was taken on the shore of the Potomac, at the moment Prince Charles, right, was hearing from Curt Viebranz, about the upcoming voyage of the Hermione, the French Frigate of Freedom, to the United States this summer, and its planned visit to Mount Vernon June 9, 2015. According to Viebranz, the Prince was quite surprised a frigate of Hermione’s size could travel this far upriver to Mount Vernon, but Viebranz assured His Royal guest, that the three-mast, tall ship could and would, adding in fact this entire voyage to the Eastern Seaboard is emblematic of the spirit of Lafayette’s personal motto, “Why Not”!
